A story as old as the hills, right? The teacher becoming the student?
I rather like it when I have the opportunity to get onto the other side of the equation. I lead/teach 8-10 classes a week and family obligations make even that a stretch sometimes leaving few opportunities for me to just relax and take a class rather than lead it.
We’re on a family vacation right now … an annual summer journey. This one with a high end tour company and the accommodations are, well, punching a little above what I’d consider my weight class..
Opportunity knocked. I leaned into it and took a wellness class here at the hotel. It had an intriguing name and we decided to make the time work.
A little bit of heaven. Although the words, style, formats and all that were very familiar, it has been a while since I’ve been able to participate instead of lead a session. It was relaxing, invigorating, and well .. validating as the guide had a somewhat similar style of delivery to my own (or at least I hope I’m perceived that way!)
Take those chances when they come!
