I am not a collector, but....
So for as long as I can remember, I’ve had a bit of a book problem. The problem is not enough shelving. I should note that this is a somewhat close cousin to my wife’s claim to having a shortage of closet space… but I digress.
When May rolled around, I gazed at the tower of books on the side table next to my wake up chair and vowed to myself that maybe, just maybe, I could get through a month of buying less books than I finished reading. Finished is the operative word here. I read an enormous number of books but in the past couple years I haven’t finished too many. Since I don’t read much fiction, my general strategy is read far enough the think I’ve got the point and then set it aside.
We’re leaning in on the end of May and by golly, I did it! Bought 2, finished 3! On the finished list for May … Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness (David A Treleaven), The Next Conversation (Jefferson Fisher), and 10% Happier (Dan Harris). All excellent and highly recommended. June looks a little dicey as far as free time goes but in process and hoping to finish 2 — how to love better (yung pueblo) and Waking Up (Sam Harris). There might be more than 2 on the “purchase soon” list though …. you know, to bolster my not a collection…
