We return home to Wisconsin in a couple days from a trip to France and Spain with our soccer (futbol) club. It’s been a wonderful trip as we wind down with some free time in Barcelona over the weekend. We look ahead to a busy couple months of travel for the two youngest kids — a rower and a soccer player. Mom and dad will divide and conquer!
Like any time you immerse in other countries and cultures, the trip has been a bit of a perspective reset. Ironically (though due in part to my lack of language skills beyond my native tongue), the opportunity to take a break from the U.S. new cycle was cast aside by having only the BBC for English language television in the late evenings. Still, it does expand your horizons a bit when you get out of your bubble.
I often spend a bit of time in the mornings to prepare my class content for upcoming days … 2 movement classes (qigong/tai chi) and 2 guided meditations per week - 2 different audiences, so delivering 4 of each weekly. Yesterday I was forwarded a note from my supervisor that included my name in a list of folks thanked by a donor who had recently completed a program. Ah .. a life perspective reset and a little ego boost. Nice. Short teaching week ahead, as won’t teach again until next Thursday. Our meditations are topical - next week we’ll explore patience and peacefulness. We also close our movement sessions with a few moments of reflection and I share a bit of (hopefully..) relatable wisdom. Here is next week’s!
